Our Strategy and Management Approach

Our strategy focuses on efficient and sustainable management of the Maasai Mara Reserve through integration of good governance, harmonised management practices, stakeholder collaboration and sustainable tourism. It aims at creating a coherent and integrated plan for sustainable tourism and socio-economic development

1

Maasai Mara National Reserve Management Plan (2023-2032)

which provides a roadmap to guide management activities and achieve the desired future state for specific aspects of the National Reserve management. It sets out a comprehensive agenda for strengthening the management of the Reserve, designed to ensure its sustainability, and the continuing generation of socio-economic benefits to the host communities and Kenyans at large.
2

Greater Maasai Mara Ecosystem Management Plan

guiding the activities within the Mara ecosystem by outlining a zoning scheme and management actions to address threats to the ecosystem.
3

One Mara Brand Marketing Strategy (2023-2027)

a unified framework for transforming the Mara tourism experience based on establishment and operationalisation of a One Mara Brand Marketing Brand, enhancing stakeholder synergy to improve collaboration in tourism and conservation interventions, improving visibility and publicity of responsible tourism, and enhancing visibility and promotion of the Maasai Mara ecosystem’s unique offerings.
4

National County Physical and Land Use Development Plan (2023-2032)

which is a spatial plan that guides the strategic direction for the development of the County, including the Mara ecosystem, over the next 10 years. The Plan particularly seeks to improve sustainable use and management of land, enhance conservation outcomes, including reducing human-wildlife conflicts and spurring economic development.
